Aquesta setmana parlarem de l’ornitorinc que és un mamífer semiaquàtic.

És una de les cinc espècies vivents de monotremes, els únics mamífers que ponen ous en lloc de donar a llum cries vives.

L’aspecte d’aquet animal, amb bec d'ànec, cua de castor i potes de llúdria.

Es un dels pocs mamífers verinosos, els mascles tenen una pua a les potes posteriors que allibera un verí capaç de produir un dolor intens als humans.

Fins a principis del segle XX, se'l caçava pel seu pelatge, però, actualment, està protegit arreu del seu àmbit de distribució.
